Building a Smarter Workflow

Before tackling the larger projects for this portfolio, I wanted to solve a common friction point first. I knew I would need a simple, reliable way to use AWS icons across different projects. Building this library at the start was a practical decision to make future development faster and more consistent.

Solving a Recurring Problem

I knew that without a central, updated source for icons, I would waste time searching for and formatting them on every single project. It made sense to solve this problem correctly once.

Taking the time to build this tool first led to a few key benefits for all subsequent work:

  • Faster Development

I can quickly add professional graphics and build UI components without interrupting my workflow to find assets.

  • Improved Consistency

All projects use the same, official set of icons, which creates a more polished and unified look.

  • Creative Focus

I get to spend more time on the interesting, complex parts of a project instead of on repetitive setup tasks.

What This Project Shows

This project reflects my general approach to work: I like to identify common pain points and build clean, simple solutions for them. It's about being efficient and paying attention to the details.

Ultimately, this is just a tool to grab icons. But including it here shows that I think about the entire development process. Building a good workflow is as important as the final product, and this project is a good example of that principle in action.
